Search Kenedy County Court Dockets

A Kenedy County court docket records the steps in a case, from filed papers to settings and final orders. Yet one search cannot reach every court record in this small Texas county. To search the Kenedy County court docket, first identify the court that received the case. The statewide search may supply an index or public event data. The clerk or Justice Court remains the best source for a current setting, a file that is not indexed, or an official copy. This route keeps a docket search tied to the correct court and record keeper.

Kenedy County Docket Routes

A county label alone will not point you to the right file. The 105th Judicial District Court serves Kenedy, Kleberg, and Nueces Counties. The Kenedy County Court keeps its own records. Four Justice Courts do the same. Federal matters fall to the Southern District of Texas, which runs a separate Corpus Christi Division. Every route has its own clerk. Its search method is its own too.

The official county homepage is good for courthouse context and current notices. It identifies the government source, but it is not a case search.

Use the county page for office routing and closure news. A Kenedy County court docket still comes from the court or clerk that owns the case.

What a Court Docket Shows

A docket is a chronological register of a case. It may list parties, the court, the judge, pleadings, orders, settings, and disposition. What the public sees can be narrower than the clerk's full file. Kenedy County publishes no sample docket or local code sheet. Do not assume any field label or number pattern.

Cause numberThe clerk's identifier. Copy punctuation and leading zeroes exactly.
Case styleThe formal caption naming the parties or the State and defendant.
Docket entriesDated filings, notices, motions, orders, judgments, and other events.
SettingA scheduled hearing, docket call, bench trial, or jury trial.
Court and judgeThe venue and judicial officer tied to the entry.
DispositionThe recorded result, read with the signed judgment or order.

A blank search does not prove a case is absent. The record may be new, old, restricted, sealed, held by another court, or not yet integrated.

Kenedy County Docket Search Limits

Kenedy County posts no public search form on its County Clerk, District Clerk, courthouse, or Justice Court pages. re:SearchTX offers the statewide layer. Its public interface limits what a visitor can test. Exact fields, result limits, update times, export tools, and local document prices are not published.

Keep your search terms and date handy, then contact the proper office. Ask whether the case sits with another court or is too old for electronic data. It may be restricted or await integration. If you need one filing, name it. Then say whether you want a plain or certified copy for your records.

Key point: “No result” means only that one route returned no result. It does not settle whether another Kenedy County court holds a record.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Jurisdiction is the type of matter a court may hear. In Kenedy County, it decides both the docket and the record keeper. Felonies and broad district civil or family filings belong at the district level. County matters follow a separate county path. Justice Courts keep lower-level files by precinct.

Kenedy County Dockets and Kingsville

A Kenedy County case does not always mean a Sarita setting. The state directory puts the 105th Judicial District Court's main location at 700 E. Kleberg in Kingsville. Texas Government Code section 24.207 forms the court from three counties and sets rotating terms. Kenedy terms begin on the first Monday in June and December. A term is not an individual hearing date; it marks a period when court may sit. Confirm the setting and venue with the coordinator at (361) 595-8533 or the District Clerk. That check matters when an old notice, a statewide result, and a newer court message disagree.

The official statute shows the three-county structure and the term schedule behind it.

The statute explains the district's reach, but the latest court notice controls one appearance.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

Kenedy County has no standalone daily docket or calendar page. For a district setting, compare the latest notice with re:SearchTX. Use it only if the case is indexed. Then call the 105th coordinator. County Court dates can be checked through the coordinator at (361) 294-5224. Justice Court dates must go through the precinct named on the citation.

Ask for the date, time, setting type, place, judge, and appearance method. A calendar lists scheduled events. A docket is the longer case history. A reset can move a date without ending the case itself. The Kenedy County court calendar page gives the full contact route.

Never infer a hearing from a term month, an old form, or a payment page. A signed notice is safer. So is a current coordinator response.

Kenedy County Justice Court Dockets

Kenedy County has four Justice Court precincts. The citation should identify which one owns a traffic or Class C case. The same rule covers small claims, debt, eviction, and other JP matters. The county's Justice Courts page links the offices. It also lists their payment paths.

The landing page routes you to a precinct. Payment links, though, do not show the complete case history.

Precinct 1 uses (361) 294-5785, Precinct 2 uses (361) 294-5298, and Precinct 4 uses (361) 294-5787. Precinct 3 is listed both ways, so confirm whether (361) 294-5785 or (361) 294-5786 is current.

Public Access to Dockets

Texas treats court case records, judicial administrative records, and ordinary government records as separate things. A docket sheet is a case record. The Texas Public Information Act does not automatically govern each court file, and Rule 12 cannot bypass the clerk's case-record process.

Key rules:

Texas Government Code chapter 552 governs many public records, but is not a blanket court-file rule.

OCA Open Records Policy distinguishes case records from judicial records.

Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 covers certain judicial records and exemptions.

Civil Rules 21c and 76a address sensitive-data redaction and sealing.

Some records stay closed. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and sensitive files may be hidden or limited, and finding a case in an index does not promise you can open the filing image itself.

Kenedy County Docket Terms

Kenedy County forms lean on terms like cause number, plea, judgment, and trial setting. Knowing what each word means helps you follow a case's path through the docket, but be careful: one database may not use the same label as another.

Cause number
The clerk's identifier. No local format guide was found.
Setting
A scheduled event, not always a trial.
Reset
A change that moves a setting without dismissal.
Disposition
The outcome or status, best read with the signed order.
Certified copy
A reproduction authenticated by the clerk.
Show cause
A hearing to explain noncompliance with a court rule or order.

When a code on a Kenedy County docket entry is unclear, ask the clerk's office what it means, because no local code sheet exists to support guessing.

The Clerk and Docket Records

Two offices split the docket work. The District Clerk keeps filings for the 105th District Court, while the County Clerk holds the constitutional County Court files and other county records. Who holds each job is less certain. Current state sources list Veronica Vela in both roles and mark a combo clerk. The county's own County Clerk page, though, displays Elizabeth Ramirez Alaniz. Call before you rely on any displayed name. The County Clerk page is where the public finds the office address, hours, and links.

Kenedy County Docket Filing Tools

eFileTexas accepts filings in covered Texas courts. It is not a public docket viewer, though. A receipt only proves a submission entered the process. It does not promise that the public can view the image or that it already shows up in search. re:SearchTX plays a different role. It handles search and document access. Permissions vary among the public, lawyers, clerks, and judges, and sensitive items may be withheld. The statewide citations and notices search is separate again. It exposes text, name, cause number, court or county, and status fields, but it is not a full docket. For an authoritative Kenedy County court record, request it from the clerk who maintains it.

Kenedy County Docket Scale

Kenedy County counted 350 residents in the 2020 Census. The 2025 estimate is 319. Sarita, a census-designated place, had 205 residents in 2020. Population alone tells you little here; the court structure is the better clue for a docket search.

The Court Activity Reporting and Directory supplies statistics by period. Note that it is not a case search, even though its interface appears below.

What the reporting system offers is aggregate court activity, not case-level detail. A missing Kenedy County row means neither zero filings nor anything about one case.

Kenedy County Docket Source Checks

Official sources do not always agree. Two state sources point one way. The current state directory and a state verification list both identify Veronica Vela as County Clerk and District Clerk. The live county-facing County Clerk page, though, names Elizabeth Ramirez Alaniz. An older Precinct 4 traffic form names a judge who differs from the current state directory. The Precinct 3 phone number also differs between county and state listings. Treat any conflict as a reason to call. Do not quietly pick one source over another. The official fiscal year 2025 report index provides the current annual court-statistics files for a broader Kenedy County check.

Kenedy County court docket annual statistics report index

Think of the index as a source for court-level statistics, not a live docket or a substitute for clerk confirmation. Divide the labor when you verify. Use the latest state directory for a current officeholder, the county page for live public links and posted hours, and the court itself for the final word. Bring or quote the cause number when calling. Ask whoever answers to confirm the court, record custodian, mailing address, and current setting before sending a request or making a trip. That habit keeps a district file request from landing at a county office. Both clerk pages post weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the County Clerk page says it stays open through lunch. Holiday and office notices can appear on the county homepage. A 2020 closure notice documented shorter temporary hours and several remote channels, but it is historical evidence only and must not replace the current schedule. When timing matters, confirm the same day. The official pages say nothing about a public terminal, copying station, after-hours box, parking plan, accessibility detail, or device policy at the courthouse, so ask about those points before a visit. The county homepage lists the courthouse at 101 East La Parra Avenue, Sarita, while office pages use Mallory addresses or post-office boxes. State your purpose up front so staff can send you to the right site.

Court Dockets by City in Kenedy County

The official Census table shows no incorporated municipalities in Kenedy County. That means there are no city docket pages to list here. Sarita is a census-designated place. It is also the county seat. That status does not create a municipal court. Names like Armstrong, Mifflin, Norias, Rudolph, and Turcotte are communities. They are not proof of city courts. The official Census TIGER table identifies Sarita as a census-designated place.

That federal classification is why the municipal docket list stays empty rather than treating Sarita as an incorporated city. The Texas State Library county-seat table separately confirms Sarita's role as the Kenedy County seat.

Kenedy County court docket Sarita county-seat listing

County-seat status points residents toward county courts and clerks. It still does not create a Sarita municipal docket. Route any case to the 105th Judicial District Court, Kenedy County Court, or the proper Justice Court precinct based on the paperwork. The empty card set reflects the verified count, not an oversight.

Kenedy County Docket Copy Requests

Start with the basics. Give the clerk the court or precinct, the cause number, the case style, the filing year, and the exact item you want. Then say which form of the record you need: inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy. Ask about delivery, payment, and identification rules too. Kenedy County posts no complete copy-fee schedule and makes no processing promise.

One more tip matters. Be clear about the difference between a docket sheet and the complete file. You can name a single item instead: a petition, complaint, return, motion, notice, signed order, judgment, plea form, or appeal paper. Transcripts are a different animal. The court reporter handles those. Exhibits can carry separate access limits. Naming the item lets the Kenedy County clerk quote the right work and keeps a broad request from producing the wrong court record.

Before mailing any funds, ask for the current per-page amount, the certification charge, the accepted payment type, the expected processing time, and the pickup or delivery choices. The county supplies none of those figures. Ask also about in-person inspection or a public terminal. The clerk has no posted terminal policy, so confirm counter access instead of assuming it. Restricted or sealed material may require proof of authority or a court order.

For district files, the District Clerk page is the official county contact, and it lists the office's current contact information.

Try phone, fax, mail, or an office visit. A historic notice also shows email and e-file use, but its temporary hours no longer apply. Federal records go through PACER and the Southern District clerk.

The 105th Judicial District Court holds its Kenedy County terms in June and December, but the district's main courtroom sits at Kingsville in Kleberg County. The District Clerk who keeps Kenedy County's district case files, along with the County Clerk, works out of the Kenedy County Courthouse in Sarita, the county seat. Both offices share one combo clerk and one Sarita location.
